Garden structures

A one day course making garden structures (obelisks and sunflowers) from willow with underwoodsman John Waller in the beautiful setting of Gatton Park. Materials and tools provided.

Gatton BioBlitz Bat & Moth night (Adult Booking)

Join the Gatton Park team and a variety of experts who will be, over a 24 hour period, attempting to record as much wildlife as possible found in the park.The Bat and Moth Night will start at 8pm by setting up a moth trap to be left overnight and checked on Sunday morning. We will also hopefully be identifying some moths on the night! You will also join the Surrey Bat Group who will be surveying the bats on site using bat detectors.

Booking is essential; Adults £5 Children £1. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a group activity led by an expert. If you wish to further explore the grounds then you will be able to enter the Bioblitz afternoon for free on the Sunday (30th April). You will not be able to explore the park by yourselves during the evening.

Gatton BioBlitz Dawn Chorus Walk

Join the Gatton Park team and a variety of experts who will be, over a 24 hour period, attempting to record as much wildlife as possible found in the park. Join Daniel Greenwood, Conservation Project Officer at Sydenham Hill Wood, (London Wildlife Trust) for a Dawn Chorus Walk. The group will meet at 4:20am for a start time of 4:30am and last approximately two hours.

Booking is essential; Adults £5. This is a group activity led by an expert. This is a group activity led by an expert. If you wish to further explore the grounds then you will be able to enter the Bioblitz afternoon for free later on in the day. You will not be able to explore the park by yourselves during the morning.

Gatton BioBlitz Afternoon

Join the Gatton Park team and a variety of experts who will be, over a 24 hour period, attempting to record as much wildlife as possible found in the park. Our Bioblitz afternoon will start at 12pm and finish at 5pm. We will have experts from a variety of different organisations to lead walks and help identify species including Butterfly Conservation, Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Surrey Botanical Society.

Our bird hide will be open throughout the afternoon and we will also have free children activities. You are free to explore the park by yourselves and see what species you can find. Adults £5 Children £1 (free entry if you have attended the previous evening or morning session). No booking required. Why not bring a picnic lunch?

Green Woodworking

An opportunity to have a go at green woodworking. All participants will be given instruction on techniques, use of tools including pole lathe and making simple items such as beetles, dibbers, cord pulls, rolling pins. No experience necessary. Materials and tools provided.
